BAYERN PLAY RUDE HANSA HOSTS
A completely new-look Bayern side, buoyed by millions in summer spending, efficiently dismantled Heath Pearce's Hansa Rostock thanks to goals by both new strikers, Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni, for a 3-0 win.

The American left back shook off an injury picked up midweek to make his Bundesliga debut for his new side.

Toni, who similarly overcame a late injury scare, started off the scoring in the 14th minute as Klose played the Italian in with a crisp ball after getting on the end of Basti Schweinsteiger's work.

Klose, who crossed the threshold from bitter title rivals Bremen this summer, would have to wait until midway through the second half to get on the board himself, but it remained a first half in which Die Kogge struggled to keep up with the pace of Bayern's passing.

In the 24th minute, Rostock keeper Stefan Wächter made a double save to deny both Schweinsteiger and fullback Marcell Jansen, and in doing so, kept his team in the game.

When the teams arrived back from the dressing room, little had changed, and the Bavarians kept their attacking impetus. Toni sent his shot just inches over the bar right from the break, but Klose would be more clinical in the 66th minute, pouncing on a rebound from Philipp Lahm's shot.

The two would link up once more in the 85th minute to put the game completely out of reach for the visitors, Klose this time heading in Lahm's cross.

Next up, Hansa will host FC Nürnberg.

BENNY-LESS HSV BEAT HANNOVER
After letting go of USMNT midfielder Benny Feilhaber to English side Derby County, Hamburg seemed not to lose a beat, coming up with a 1-0 win over Steve Cherundolo and Die Roten in this northern derby.

The former Portland fullback and his Hannover side battled to take home advantage, but quickly found themselves on the back foot. HSV playmaker Piotr Trochowski and Dutch talismanic attacker Rafael Van der Vaart combined well to trouble the hosts in the opening minutes.

Fluid attacking play would gain tangibility as fullback Collin Benjamin blasted the ball past new Hannover captain and keeper Robert Enke for the 1-0 after being threaded in by former Ajax utility-man Nigel de Jong.

In the 35th minute, HSV almost doubled the lead when Mohamed Zidan's effort just whistled over Enke and the Hannover goal.

After the halftime break, Hannover pushed for an equalizer as Vahid Hashemian fumbled the ball in front of net, then Jan Rosenthal edged his effort over the bar in the 66th minute.

In the dying minutes, former Hamburg striker now playing in the red of Hannover Benjamin Lauth came close, but it was not to be.

Die Roten get another chance at points away to Karlsruher on Friday, while HSV are treated to a trip to Honved Budapest for UEFA Cup qualification on Thursday.

MAINZ ROUT KOBLENZ
Longtime youth player Neven Subotić got the nod for a full 90 minute shift at the back as Mainz put on an attacking display to overcome TuS Koblenz 4-1.

It was coach Jürgen Klopp's first folly back in the 2.Bundesliga after a few years of resting his Reds in the mid-table of Germany's highest division, and he opened with a bang.

Koblenz were missing American defender Josh Grenier through injury.

Markus Feulner headed home off the under side of the crossbar for the 1-0 in the fifth minute, before missing a chance to double the score from a cross just seven minutes later.

Just two minutes before the halftime break, Koblenz captain Anel Džaka leveled the match for the visitors.

Petr Ruman put the hosts back ahead in the 55th minute before Feulner added his second just a minute later to put the hosts up 3-1.

As the visitors sent numbers forward in search of a way back into the match, space opened up, and Mario Vrančić preyed on the open room to find himself in space for the 4-1.

Klopp and his Mainz side travel to Greuther Fürth on Sunday, while TuS host FC Augsburg on Friday.

MNZ - Markus Feulner 1 5'
TUS - Anel Džaka 1 43'

LIONS ROLL OVER AUGSBURG
US duo Gregg Berhalter and Josh Wolff each provided the goods as 1860 Munich steamed over Augsburg with a 6-2 blowout.

Augsburg started the stronger, testing Die Löwen through Mourad Hdiouad in the opening minutes. Nevertheless, Berkant Göktan opened the scoring in the 16th minute to put the hosts ahead 1-0.

Wolff tried for a goal himself through a header, two minutes later, as the hosts took control of the match.

Danny Schwarz played in Antonio di Salvo in for the 2-0 in the 30th minute, but the visitors pulled one back through the dangerous Hdiouad just four minutes later.

Three minutes before the break, former Stuttgart midfielder Daniel Bierofka fired home for the hosts for the 3-1 after taking advantage of a mis-cleared corner.

Di Salvo added his second of the afternoon in the 54th minute after an unselfish layoff by Wolff.

Lars Bender put the hosts up 5-1 in the 72nd minute, before Hdiouad sent his 20-yard effort in to pull one back for Augsburg in the 78th minute.

Three minutes later, 1860 ended the rout as Di Salvo bagged his hat trick after a nice passing routine with former Kansas City Wizard Wolff.

Augsburg have a Friday date at TuS Koblenz, while the Lions welcome Kaiserslautern to the Allianz Arena on Sunday.
