HANSA HOLD ZEBRAS
Heath Pearce played the last 12 minutes for Hansa Rostock in their 1-1 tie at fellow Bundesliga strugglers MSV Duisburg.

Ivica Grilic gave the Zebras the lead in the seventh minute when his free kick whistled past Hansa goalkeeper Stefan Wächter, but Rostock's Nigerian striker Victor Agali leveled on 20 minutes following fine work by 36-year old former Aston Villa midfielder Stefan Beinlich.

The visitors dominated the game against the Zebras, who stay in the drop zone, but moved off the bottom of the table into 17th place. Rostock remains 14th and host Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

HANNOVER BEATEN AT BAYER
Steve Cherundolo went the 90, but saw his Hannover 96 team downed 2-0 at Bayer Leverkusen.

Sal Zizzo was not named to the game day 16.

Cherundolo survived a penalty appeal in the third minute when he appeared to have handled a Theofanis Gekas effort, but the Greece striker sent Leverkusen into the lead on the half hour with a clever lob over Hannover goalie Robert Enke.

The Greek marksman turned provider in the 39th for Swiss midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta to double the home team's advantage with a powerful drive.

Hannover's best chance came just after the quarter hour mark when Sergio Pinto saw his shot cleared off the line, but otherwise the day belonged to Leverkusen, who missed a string of chances to add to their win.

Bayer stay fourth and in the UEFA Cup slots, while Hannover remain 10th. The Reds host Arminia Bielefeld at the AWD Arena on Saturday.
