Chicago general manager John Guppy told Luis Arroyave of the Chicago Tribune that the club was "in final discussions" to sign a striker and that the deal was "99.9%" finished.

Wanchope, Costa Rica's all-time goal leader, was last with FC Tokyo, but is currently without a club.

The 30-year old previously played under new Chicago boss Juan Carlos Osorio while he was with the Manchester club.

UPDATE: Wanchope is set for a Friday presentation after passing his medical and agreeing to a one-year pact with the Fire.
