The Chicago Fire have announced that erstwhile Millionairos boss Juan Carlos Osorio will take over as the team's third ever head coach on Monday.

The 46-year old, who was a MetroStars assistant before spending five years on the Manchester City staff, leaves his Colombian post having led his team into this year's Copa Sudamericana with a fourth place finish.

Osorio replaces the fired Dave Sarachan, and will step in for interim coach Denis Hamlett after the club's weekend contest with Toronto FC.

Fire veteran Diego Gutierrez believes the new man can do the job. "I know him fairly well," the defender/midfielder said of his fellow Colombia native to Chicago Sports. "He's highly educated. I think he's very capable."
