The Rams secured the services of the US international following a hearing today by the UK Home Office’s Football Review Panel. The initial application had fallen short on the requirement for Feilhaber to have played in at least 75% of US games over the previous two years.
National Team coach Bob Bradley assisted Derby with their appeal, writing a reference for the 22-year old midfielder who scored the spectacular winner for the US against Mexico in the Gold Cup final in June.
Rio-born Feilhaber, who totaled nine Bundesliga and three Champions League appearances since signing for Hamburger SV in 2005, has made 10 appearances and scored twice since pulling on the US National Team jersey for the first time, against Ecuador in March.
“We’re bringing in another very good young player with excellent potential,” Derby coach Billy Davies told the club website. “I believe he is ready for the challenge of the Premier League.” |
