| The 2007 winter training academy is open to all boys and girls soccer players from the eastern Pennsylvania area, regardless of their club affiliation, and follow on the heels of a similar partnership with a western Pennsylvania club (the Pittsburgh Riverhounds). The aim of this partnership is to raise the level of player development across eastern Pennsylvania with Everton Academy coaches acting as technical advisors over the next three years. Everton's online player development tool (evertonway.com) will be at the core of the partnership and will play a vital role in the development of local talent. The Everton Way is a coaching regime currently implemented with their EPL stars, including US Men's National Team keeper Tim Howard. The system is also responsible for producing current Toffees Leon Osman and James Vaughan, as well as Manchester United and England superstar Wayne Rooney. "This is a historic day for soccer players and coaches throughout the eastern Pennsylvania region," FC Revolution owner/director Eric Puls commented on their website. "They will have exclusive training that utilizes the program and methods of one of the world's leading organizations for player development." Everton Football Club will be associated with the FC Revolution club teams, the winter academy and all other components of the club, including camps and clinics. The Toffees will assist FC Revolution in the development of an Academy/Club curriculum, as well as provide their expertise and technical advice. At the forefront of the partnership from the blues is Everton Academy coach, Tony "Tosh" Farrell. "We are continuing to support youth development in the US, and this is another partnership for Everton to cement our proven development program in a forward thinking US club like FC Revolution," he stated on the club website. "This is an exciting time, not only for FC Revolution, but also for Everton Football Club, this opportunity allows us to put Everton Football Club's proven coaching philosophy - The Everton Way - into place over a sustained period." The Revs also hope to foster a coaching exchange program. FC Revolution coaching staff members, along with club coaches who become a partner of the club system will have opportunities to travel to Liverpool and visit the Everton Academy. They hope to add to this agreement by having player exchanges, as well as possible exchanges to the Everton Academy in Liverpool. "The 24 hour connection to player development from evertonway.com is key to maintaining the high standards needed to make a successful academy based on the Everton Way of coaching," added Farrell. "Its a gateway into our Academy and is a perfect tool to help clubs develop." "We believe this will help raise the standard of soccer in the Eastern Pennsylvania area and beyond, helping the Revs become one of the leading clubs in player development. The partnership is sure to help maximize player potential and credit must be given to Revs for taking the steps to evolve." |
