Clint Mathis made a late cameo for the victors, entering in the 89th minute.

The visitors carried play in the first half, but Ergotelis netminder Iosif Daskalakis made good stops on Ivica Iliev and Ricardo Matias Verón to keep the game scoreless into the break.

Daskalakis then made a top notch save on a long Sotiris Balafas try eight minutes into the second half.

On the hour mark, the hosts took the lead on their first real chance of the match. Junior Silva picked the pocket of PAOK defender Ilias Charalambous and promptly deposited the opener.

Verón was again denied by Daskalakis as the guests poured men forward to tie the score. With nine minutes left, Serbia international Goran Gavrančić gifted Ergotelis an insurance goal by deflecting a sharp angle Dimitrios Grammozis shot past his own keeper.

The Canaries will continue their pursuit of a safety place when they visit Asteras Tripolis next Sunday.
