Clint Dempsey notched a goal and two assists to help Fulham fight back for a last gasp home draw with Tottenham, Tim Howard and the Toffees topped Bolton away on a late strike and Frank Simek's Owls flew too low against visiting Bristol.

TOFFEES SMASH AND GRAB AT BOLTON
Joleon Lescott scored a dramatic last minute winner to give Everton a valuable away win against Bolton Wanderers.

Tim Howard played the full 90 for the Toffees, who found themselves ahead after only 11 minutes thanks to new signing Ayegbeni Yakubu.

However, the Nigerian striker's goal was hardly indicative of the flow of the game as Bolton had controlled the opening 10 minutes before the opener, and continued to attack in droves throughout the rest of the first half.

Howard was forced into a few fine saves, one of which was an acrobatic one-handed stop of Mikel Alonso's 22-yard strike.
Alonso wasn't done, however, as he rattled the crossbar with yet another long-distance drive not long after.

Anelka finally gave some worth to all of Bolton's huffing and puffing, as he volleyed home the equalizer after a weak headed clearance from Phil Jagielka.

However as Wanderers seemed to get more complacent, Everton got more confident, resulting in Lescott's dramatic goal, coming only 75 seconds before the end of normal time.

DEMPSEY SPARKS COTTAGE RALLY
Fulham managed to get a result thanks to a late goal as Diomansy Kamara hit a spectacular bicycle kick in the closing minute to give Fulham a 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Kasey Keller found himself on the bench as backup to the newly-fit Antti Niemi, while Carlos Bocanegra and Clint Dempsey both started and played the full 90. Dempsey had a goal and two assists in the game, which will surely heap the pressure on Spurs boss Martin Jol even further.

And yet it started so well for Tottenham, as Younes Kaboul scored only 10 minutes into the match following a terrible error by Niemi, while Dietmar Berbatov added a breakaway strike 18 minutes later.

However, Dempsey was able to pull one back just before the half by driving home Simon Davies' corner with a powerful header.

Tottenham started the second half looking to put the game beyond all doubt, Berbatov and Jermaine Jenas forcing Niemi into two excellent saves , while former Cottager Steed Malbranque hit the bar. Gareth Bale finally finished his chance just after the hour mark, latching on to a Robbie Keane service to give Tottenham a 3-1 lead.

However, Fulham would not give up as Alexei Smertin gave the home fans something to hope for in the 72nd minute. The Russian took hold of a seat-of-the-pants Dempsey pass and powered a shot towards the Tottenham goal that took a wild deflection off Ricardo Rocha before dipping into Paul Robinson's net.

Fulham continued to press, and finally were rewarded as Dempsey flicked a deep cross to Kamara, who spectacularly bicycled it home to cap the comeback.

HAMMERS IN ROYAL BEATDOWN
Marcus Hahnemann and Reading had an afternoon to forget on Saturday, falling 3-0 at home to West Ham.

Hahnemann started and went the distance for the Royals, while both Bobby Convey and Jonathan Spector came on as substitutes for their respective squads.

West Ham wasted no time getting into the match as Craig Bellamy put the Hammers ahead after only six minutes.

The visitors continued to pressure Hahnemann after the goal, but it wasn't long before Reading started showing good attacking signs. Striker Leroy Lita had legitimate claims for a penalty denied, Brynjar Gunnarsson had a shot blocked and Michael Duberry barely missed on a header.

West ham took advantage of Reading's finishing woes, scoring a goal of their own via Matthew Etherington just four minutes into the second half.

Reading had a chance to pull a goal back with a penalty kick, but let it go wanting as Hammers keeper Robert Green saved Kevin Doyle's effort with a diving save to his left.

West Ham put the result beyond all doubt as Reading pushed forward in the closing stages, with Etherington finishing a breakaway in the 90th minute.

ROVERS CONTINUE EARLY ROLL
Blackburn Rovers maintained their bright start to the season with a 1-0 win over Sven Goran-Eriksson's Manchester City.

Brad Friedel started and played the full 90 for Rovers, though he had little to do in a match that was largely dominated by his side from the outset.

South Africa striker Benni McCarthy scored the game winner for Blackburn in the 13th minute, tapping in the ball after a goal line scramble on a corner kick.

The rest of the match was very even between the two sides, not only in terms of possession and scoring chances - but also in red cards.

Blackburn playmaker Tugay was sent off in the 55th minute after picking up two yellow cards in just under two minutes. However, City didn't have much time to capitalize on the advantage as captain Richard Dunne was sent off after a second yellow card for a lunging tackle on Roque Santa Cruz.

BLA - Brad Friedel; Ryan Nelsen, Christopher Samba, Stephen Warnock, David Bentley, David Dunn, Brett Emerton, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Robbie Savage (Tugay 17'), Benedict McCarthy (André Ooijer 63'), Roque Santa Cruz (Matt Derbyshire 86')

OWLS SLIP AT HOME AGAIN
Frank Simek played the full 90 as Sheffield Wednesday lost once again, leaving them at the bottom of the championship table.

Brian Wilson scored for the visiting Bristol Rovers after just four minutes on a drive from the edge of the penalty area.

Wednesday tried desperately to get back in the game, but Bristol goalkeeper Adriano Basso made several key saves to preserve the win for City.

HORNETS STALL TRACTOR BOYS
Watford got back to winning ways after a disappointing last few games, moving into second place with a solid 2-0 home victory over Ipswich Town.

Jay DeMerit started and played the full 90 for an impressive Watford, who held their opponents to zero shots on target while producing six of their own.

Darius Henderson scored the opener for the Hornets just six minutes in after latching on to a nice cutback from Lee Williamson.

Tommy Smith doubled the Watford advantage in the second half with an unstoppable shot that capped off a cutting run from the right touchline.

ON THE SIDELINE
Neither Benny Feilhaber nor Eddie Lewis made the match day squad for Derby County, and were probably all the luckier for it as the Rams were embarrassed 6-0 by Liverpool at Anfield.

Cory Gibbs did not play in Charlton's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace as he continues his recovery from injury.

Zak Whitbread was an unused substitute in Millwall's 2-1 home loss to Huddersfield Town.
