New England midfielder Andy Dorman has signed a pre-deal to join Scottish Premier League survival fighters St. Mirren when his MLS contract expires on New Year's Eve.

The Chester, England native played three seasons for the Revs after being picked out Boston University with a 2004 SuperDraft sixth round pick, notching 10 goals and 16 assists in 82 appearances.

After losing 1-0 at home to Aberdeen on Saturday, the Buddies stand next to last in the SPL table.

"Andy has agreed to an 18-month contract with the option of a further year at the end of that," St. Mirren manager Gus McPherson, who hopes to have Dorman in uniform when they visit bottom feeders Gretna on Wednesday, told the club website.

"All that needs to be concluded is international clearance. We have requested that and it is now in the hands of the MLS in the USA to push the clearance through."

"We feel he is the type of player who will definitely strengthen our squad. He is a box-to-box style midfielder who can score goals - and technically he is very good."
