Dombrowski Casts Lot with Bulls

Erstwhile IK Sirius star man Tighe Dombrowski is one week into camp with the New York Red Bulls, with whom he would like to open the next chapter in his career.

The versatile 25-year old, who scored six goals in 55 league contests during his time with the Swedish second flight side, says his decision to leave the club was down to wanting to return to the States - although he might have stayed for an overly tempting offer.

"After the conclusion of last season, I decided I wanted to be back in the US," Dombrowski told American Soccer Daily. "If something would've presented itself that would have made it more attractive to stay with Sirius or in Sweden, I would have taken a good look at it."

"However, nothing has surfaced and so I am trying to make a move and be in the US. It was mostly a decision based on my life off the field, I want to be closer to home so I can spend more time with the people who are important to me. There were some other factors as well, mostly smaller things that added up, but I wanted to be back home."

"It would have been easy for me to sign again with Sirius and not go through the uncertainty of being out of contract, but I am willing to put in that extra effort and take a risk to hopefully end up somewhere that is a better fit."

"I went into Sweden with that same uncertainty and things worked out so hopefully the same will happen again."
