Rangers FC defeated German fourth division side Gütersloh 3-0 in DaMarcus Beasley's debut for the Scottish giants.

Rangers opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Andy Webster headed in a Chris Burke free kick.

Two minutes before halftime, Alan Hutton won a penalty for Rangers. Kris Boyd then confidently slotted the spot kick to double the lead for his side.

Beasley nearly set up a great chance for his new team in the 67th minute after beating a marker inside the box, but his cross narrowly missed Boyd.

Chris Burke capped the scoring in the 75th minute when he cut in from the right to bury a low left-footed shot.

Beasley went the full 90 minutes for the Teddy Bears, and his opening performance seems to have pleased first team manager Kenny MacDowall.

"I felt DaMarcus Beasley did well in his first game but all the guys did well. He has just joined the squad so he is still settling in,” he told the club website.

The Glasgow club's next preseason game will be next Friday against German outfit Lippstadt.
