AALBORG SHARES WITH ODENSE
Aalborg BK started off 2008 with a 1-1 draw away against Odense BK in front of 9,883 spectators at Fionia Park on Saturday evening.

Danny Califf played a solid 90 minutes in central defense with Dutchman Steve Olfers as his partner, rather than Michael Jacobsen, who started left back instead of Martin Pedersen.

A largely eventless first half bore the mark of the season restart it was, and ended without goals. The tediousness was broken only by what looked like an attempted cross from Jonas Borring on the left which struck the crossbar on the way out for a goal kick.

The second half, however, was barely a minute old when a seemingly harmless flat cross from Borring went past goalkeeper Karim Zaza to the surprise of Olfers, whose attempted clearance ended up in his own net.

The goal lit a fire under the visitors and in the 72nd minute, a good shot from Thomas Enevoldsen was beaten only by Arek Onyszko's brilliant save.

On the following corner, however, an unmarked Olfers put his head to the ball and a deflection off Swedish debutant Lars Nilsson had Onyszko wrong-footed to even the score.

Aalborg kept the pressure up for another 10 minutes, but it was Odense's Morten Bisgaard who came closest to a game winner with a last minute shot that was blocked in defense.

With the draw, AaB move down to second place, even on points with defending champions FC Copenhagen, who beat cellar dwellers Lyngby 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Califf received a yellow card in the 49th minute, giving him a one-game suspension to be served in Wednesday's away game against third place AC Horsens.

AGF SCORELESS AT HORSENS

Aarhus GF took home a point for a goalless draw from their 2008 première away against AC Horsens in front of 6,700 spectators at Horsens Stadion on Sunday afternoon.

Jeremiah White played the full 90 minutes in right midfield, but the American was unable to change the scoreline.

It was the home side who started best, and the game was only a minute old when Søren Friis found himself unmarked on the left, but missed the chance.

Aarhus started to take over, and after 18 minutes, it was league top scorer Peter Graulund's turn to miss a chance on the left side with an inaccurate finish.

Horsens' Rawez Lawan nearly capitalized on a poor action from Anders Kure in the 25th, but after a save from Steffen Rasmussen on the first attempt, the second went narrowly wide.

The game lost pace in the second half and no chances were created until the final 15 minutes. Kure and Anders Nøhr each had chances for the visitors and an attempt from White with three minutes to go went just past the post.

The draw gives AGF another point in the battle to avoid relegation. They now have five points on Viborg and nine on Lyngby, with both losing their Sunday afternoon games.

Line-ups
AGF - Steffen Rasmussen; Anders Kure, Frederik Krabbe, Michael Lumb, Ulrik Lindkvist, Kim Madsen, Lars Pleidrup, Jeremiah White, Jerry Lucena, Dioh Williams (Peter Foldgast 69'), Peter Graulund

ACH - Søren Jochumsen; Per Gade (Steffen Algreen 46'), Mads Rieper, Kenneth Emil Petersen, Joseph Elanga, Yasin Avci (Anders Nøhr 56'), Niels Lodberg, Henrik Hansen (Janus Drachmann 86'), Søren Friis, Rawez Lawan, Gilberto Macena

ON THE SIDELINE
Neither Lee Nguyen nor Will John dressed for Randers FC as they lost 3-1 away to Brøndby IF on Sunday evening.

Robbie Russell was not on the game roster for Viborg FF's 4-0 loss at home to Esbjerg fB on Sunday afternoon. Esbjerg backup goalkeeper Tally Hall watched from the bench.
