Watford center back Jay DeMerit is hoping he can make it third time lucky by playing for the US against Poland on Wednesday night.

The Hornets' skipper has missed games in 2008 against Sweden and Mexico, but is hopeful coach Bob Bradley will employ him in Krakow.

"I've been disappointed because I got the last two call-ups and was injured when I was supposed to travel," DeMerit told American Soccer Daily.

"The only times I had been injured all season happened to fall on international dates, so it has been great to have been called up again and been invited to camp."

Ignored by former coach Bruce Arena, DeMerit has six caps for the States since being selected by Bradley a year ago, and featured in last summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup and CONMEBOL Copa América.

With World Cup 2010 qualifiers beginning in June, the Wisconsin-born defender is hoping Bob Bradley keeps faith with him.

"We have a lot of big games on the US side of things coming up," said DeMerit, "So if I can get myself involved now, then all the better."

Poland v USA kicks off at 3.30pm ET on Fox Soccer Channel.
