Davies Temporarily Dropped

Only three days after appearing for the US National Team against Sweden, Charlie Davies was omitted from Hammarby's squad for Saturday's win against Brommapojkarna.

Being left out of the game day squad is another in a long line of obstacles the young forward has experienced in his first professional season. Davies has yet to claim his first league goal, with only a UEFA Cup qualifying strike to his credit.

While the rookie has been plagued by an unlucky variety of injuries and illnesses, it is troubling that his latest omission comes down to current form.

"He is simply not among the best 16 players in the team," HIF press officer Urban Rybrink told American Soccer Daily on Saturday.

"His training sessions this week have not been good enough."

Despite being left out of the lineup, the struggling American still has the club's full support. "He will certainly be back in the lineup," asserted Rybrink.
