Convey Eyes Preseason Return

by Mark Flannery - June 11, 2007

Bobby Convey finally can see the light at the end of the tunnel in what has been a long road to recovery, following two surgeries since being injured in World Cup 2006 in Germany.

Having last played with Reading in an FA Cup clash in mid-February, Convey and the Royals decided that the best course of action would be arthroscopic knee surgery that took place at the beginning of March.

It was this procedure that ruled him out of any competitions for the US this summer so that he could concentrate on making his return to the Premiership for the 2007/08 season.

All is going according to planned, and the only thing that stands between the Philadelphia native and a return to action is time.

"Everything with my knee is going as well as it can be," Convey told American Soccer Daily. "I have just been cleared to start running. With the surgery that I had it is just patience and takes time to heal. "

"I will hopefully be back gradually getting through preseason and be back hopefully for the start of the season."

After shining during Reading's record-setting promotion campaign, Convey was limited to eight league starts, notching three assists in the process.
