After missing one Premiership match for a follow-up procedure on his knee, Reading winger Bobby Convey has fingers crossed that he will be passed fit for selection when the relegation battlers host Aston Villa on Sunday.

The US international came home to work 70 minutes of a 2-2 draw against Mexico in Houston, then remained in the States to make an overdue visit to his doctor related to twin surgeries from last season.

Convey, who was originally hurt in a Reading training session back in 2006, missed out on the Royals' 1-0 loss to Everton on February 9th.

"I actually stayed in America to get two injections in my knee that I was supposed to get a few months ago," Convey told American Soccer Daily.

"It just happened to be good timing (with the Mexico game) because I would only miss one (Reading) game and had off for two weeks after. I am back in training this week, and if it doesn't swell up, I should be fine for the weekend."

The 24-year old Philadelphia native will also head in for a second round of treatment at season's end, but hopes to put it all behind him by the fall.

"It really helps the joint in my knee," explained Convey. "I will have a little bit of rest and work out for five weeks in the offseason and come back to Reading with a good base to start preseason and be 100%."

"That has always been the prognosis from my doctor and I just need to be patient and work hard for the remainder of the year and continue to catch up with everyone else physically."
