The US international has used the international break to recover from thigh strain suffered in training late last month, and claims he could even be in uniform when the Royals travel to Portsmouth on Saturday.

"I am hoping to be back maybe for the game this weekend, but definitely for the game next weekend," Convey told American Soccer Daily. "I just started training on Monday, so if I feel good."

"Over the next two days, I would like to make myself available. I just don't want to push myself and pull my thigh again."

"The international break has come at a great time for me, so I didn't miss too many games in the Premiership," added Convey, who missed out on Wednesday's US victory over Switzerland.

"I spoke to Bob (Bradley) about it. He knew my situation and that I wouldn't be able to play for the National Team. (I) needed to use this time to get back fit and ready for the next (Reading) game."
