Brown Confident of Survival

by Poul-Henrik Worm - July 9, 2007

After following top flight promotion with demotion two seasons ago, Aalesund FK star keeper Adin Brown believes the risers will be able to stay up this time around.

With half of the Norwegian Tippeligaen season played, Adin Brown's newly promoted team Aalesund FK occupy 12th place. At the end of the season, 12th place will face the second flight's number three in a playoff to avoid relegation, but Brown is confident that his side will stay up.

"I think, defensively we've given up way too many goals, but I think we're in a much better position than we were in 2005," Brown told American Soccer Daily. "Plus, we have two new players coming in to strengthen our squad, so I think we're in a decent position to stay up."

The American keeper knows where the team needs to improve to move up in the ranks.

"I think one thing that we didn't do in the first half was win at home," he says. "I think, in order to stay up we're going to need to get a lot more points at home."

With four points in the last two games, including a 2-2 away draw against giants Rosenborg in which Brown himself netted the equalizer in injury time, Aalesund seem to be on the right track. A three-week break could be seen as a nuisance, but the former Revolution keeper focuses on the upside of the break.

"We've had a number of injuries," he says. "Perhaps it'll be good to get away for a week and let the body heal a little bit."

Aalesund return to action on July 22nd with an away game against IK Start.
