Nate Jaqua bagged his fourth goal in nine Austrian T-Mobile Bundesliga starts as Cashpoint Altach moved further away from the relegation scrape with a 2-0 win over visiting SV Mattersburg on Saturday.

As is now customary, the former MLS gunner worked the full 90 minutes on the front line.

Both Jaqua and strike partner Leonardo da Silva were foiled on an early rush initiated when the Brazil scooped up a loose ball to race to the away area.

A short time later, Leonardo da Silva went close with a close short angle try that caught the wrong side of the near post.

Mattersburg nearly grabbed the lead twice before halftime. First, Goce Sedloski hammered a free kick header off the bar, and then Thomas Wagner stunningly fanned on a sitter.

Former LA Galaxy man Pablo Chinchilla nodded in a restart moments after the break, but the goal was ruled off for a teammate's foul.

Just beyond the hour mark, Altach were handed a questionable penalty after Markus Schmidt nudged Roland Kirchler under a stray cross, and the veteran did the honors himself to give the home side the lead.

Five minutes later, the #8 shirt turned provider, working a delicious double combination with Jaqua to tee up the American for the 2-0.

Mattersburg could have pulled one back from a free kick scramble, but referee Dietmar Drabak had whistled for a foul on Altach keeper Mario Krassnitzer.

Now eight points clear of the trap door, Cashpoint hit the road to face Joseph Ngwenya and Kärnten on Friday night.
