Jeremiah White went the distance for AGF at his usual right midfield position after playing two games in front next to Peter Graulund.
Though once again on the flank, the American continued to be dangerous in front of goal and put in what might have been best game yet in the white jersey.
The game was not even two minutes old when White put his foot to a cross from Graulund but the attempt was saved by Kolding keeper Kenneth Falkenberg at the near post.
Kolding were not without their chances in the first half and Karsten From created problems for the AGF defense, but focused work from keeper Steffen Rasmussen kept the guests on track.
After 36 minutes, White was the center of attention again when Graulund was first to the rebound after his own missed chance. The loose ball found White in front of goal, but the former Wake Forest player badly mistimed his shot and the ball bobbled wide for a goal kick.
White seemed determined to produce in this game and only a few minutes later, the American moved infield from the left and took a shot from the edge of the area that went just wide of the post.
From came off injured four mintues into the second half and with him went most of Kolding's offensive initiative. As the AGF defense gained control, the offense was able to establish dominance at the other end.
It seemed that the first goal would only be a matter of time and 15 minutes into the second half, Peter Sand found the opening for Graulund. The first division goal scoring leader rounded Falkenberg before slotting in his 17th goal of the season and starting the promotion celebrations among the AGF fans.
Seven minutes later, White came close again when he finished a good raid up the middle with a thunderous shot from outside the area, but Falkenberg got his fingertips to the ball and diverted it for a corner.
Mike Tullberg replaced Sand in the 67th and only 11 minutes later, he left his marker standing and put his head to a corner from Ole Budtz to make it 2-0.
The two-goal lead lasted until the whistle and the AGF players could celebrate their return to the Danish top flight in spite of rivals Fredericia beating Næstved 2-1.
While AGF have nothing left but their unbeaten run to defend, next Sunday's home game is not completely without importance as opponents Hellerup IK are only one point above the relegation line.
