Aalborg Cozy Up to League Lead

by Greg Seltzer - October 29, 2007

Danny Califf and Aalborg BK moved to within a whisker of the SAS Liga summit with a solid 2-0 victory over visiting Esbjerg fB on Monday night.

The US international put in another splendid performance in the heart of defense over 90 minutes as the hosts posted a second consecutive clean sheet to climb into second place, one goal in differential shy of tabletop FC Midtjylland.

American netminder Tally Hall, meanwhile, was not in uniform for Esbjerg.

Jeppe Curth provided the offense, scoring twice to take the league scoring lead. His first strike came from a José Mota feed after only 12 minutes.

The former Denmark youth international, playing up front due to the absence of suspended striker Rade Prica, banked the insurance tally just after the hour thanks to a fumble by Esbjerg keeper Lars Winde.
